Project Details
The North Shore Drive project spanned from Dyckman Avenue to Baseline Road – approximately 1 mile in length. Abonmarche worked with the city and EGLE to complete a project plan that was approved for a SRF. The construction project was then undertaken to produce plans, easement documents, bidding and construction phase services. Project components included complete replacement of pavement, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, upgrades to the water distribution system and improvements to beach access sites.
Due to designation of on-street parking areas, an intensive public participation process was undertaken to evaluate options for the parking and impacts to mature trees. The process included multiple options and meetings including weekly tail-gate talks during the construction phase. Since the project is adjacent to Lake Michigan in a resort community, construction was completed between Labor Day and Memorial Day.
